Over 1,000 small business owners across the United States participated in Clutch’s annual survey about outsourcing. Respondents reported that they are planning to outsource business functions such as Information Technology (27%), Marketing (24%), Legal (23%), Finance (23%), and Software Development (21%). Business owners established that efficiency and flexibility are the main advantages of outsourcing as remote work becomes the new normal.

- Increase Business Efficiency: Many small businesses consider outsourcing to improve efficiency. “As an entrepreneur, trying to do everything yourself can slow down the growth of your business,” said a survey respondent.
- Work With Top Talent: More than one-quarter of businesses said their company’s primary motivation for outsourcing is access to top talent, and working with experts. Outsourcing is a valuable opportunity for small companies to leverage expert knowledge and top talent. A survey respondent added, “outsourcing has enabled me to focus on the parts of the business I love, and leave the other aspects to respective experts in their own field.”
- Build Scalability: Outsourcing helps businesses grow their market share without reducing revenue or product quality. About one-fifth of small businesses with 251 to 500 employees primarily use outsourcing to scale their business.
