New Research Finds that small businesses plan to outsource work

Based on the B2B rating platform Clutch, 90% of business owners planned to outsource business tasks in 2022, a double-digit increase from 2021.

Outsourcing is hiring third-party partners to conduct business functions that the company typically performs. It is one of the most powerful operations strategies to help business leaders focus their resources on valuable tasks to drive profitability and growth.

Over 1,000 small business owners across the United States participated in Clutch’s annual survey about outsourcing. Respondents reported that they are planning to outsource business functions such as Information Technology (27%), Marketing (24%), Legal (23%), Finance (23%), and Software Development (21%). Business owners established that efficiency and flexibility are the main advantages of outsourcing as remote work becomes the new normal.

The top outsourcing benefits for small businesses in 2022 included saving time, access to top talent, and scaling for growth.

The Top Outsourcing Benefits for Small Businesses:

  1. Increase Business Efficiency: Many small businesses consider outsourcing to improve efficiency. “As an entrepreneur, trying to do everything yourself can slow down the growth of your business,” said a survey respondent.
  1. Work With Top Talent: More than one-quarter of businesses said their company’s primary motivation for outsourcing is access to top talent, and working with experts. Outsourcing is a valuable opportunity for small companies to leverage expert knowledge and top talent. A survey respondent added, “outsourcing has enabled me to focus on the parts of the business I love, and leave the other aspects to respective experts in their own field.”
  1. Build Scalability: Outsourcing helps businesses grow their market share without reducing revenue or product quality. About one-fifth of small businesses with 251 to 500 employees primarily use outsourcing to scale their business.

Outsourcing is not the perfect solution for every business, but it certainly offers an efficient solution to today’s fast-paced and competitive market. In addition, outside advisors provide the flexibility of having high-performing resources who can handle a wide variety of challenges more effectively than hiring a full-time employee expected to be a jack-of-all-trades. When used correctly, an outsourcing model can bring plenty of value to your business by putting your organization in expert hands.

The critical component to effective outsourcing is understanding your business needs, so you make the right decisions for the future growth of your company. Sounds appealing? Get in touch with us, and we’ll be happy to discuss how outsourcing marketing could benefit your company.
